JCC is excited to keep our Aquatic Center open year-round for the first time in the history of the JCC! JCC has made this change to better serve our members and the community. Please enjoy the expanded access to this excellent fitness and recreational facility.

The JCC competition pool will remain open all winter, subject to certain temperature and weather conditions (see below). The therapy and wading pools will be closed until Spring.

Competition Pool Opening Criteria

Under normal conditions, the JCC pool will be open when the temperature is 35° F or above. The JCC will use The Weather Channel as the "official" source for the current temperature.

To check the current temperature that will determine whether the pool is open or closed:

  • Visit www.weather.com
  • Download The Weather Channel app on your smart phone, tablet or other mobile device.
  • For the desired location, enter the JCC zip code: 87109.

The pool also will be closed if the following conditions exist:

  • Lightning
  • Visibility conditions obscure the pool bottom
  • Other inclement weather, such as hard rain or heavy snow

The Competition Pool

Competition Pool
  • The Competition pool is 25 yards long and 4 to 9 feet deep.
  • The temperature of the pool is 82 degrees Fahrenheit.

Activities in the Competition Pool include:

  • JCC Orcas Swim Team practices and competitions.
  • Aquaerobics
  • Master Swim
  • Barracuda, Dolphin, and Shark level group lessons
  • Private lessons
  • Camp Chai swim lessons
  • Family swim
  • Adult recreational swim
  • Lap swim

The Therapy Pool

Therapy Pool
  • The Therapy Pool is 15 feet long and 1 to 4 feet deep.
  • The temperature of the pool is 92 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • A handicap ramp is available for those needing assistance.

Activities in the Therapy Pool include:

  • Parent & Tot, Starfish, Seahorse, and Barracuda level group lessons
  • Private lessons
  • Camp Chai swim lessons
  • Family swim

The Papa Albert Baby Pool

Papa Albert Baby Pool
  • The Papa Albert Baby Pool is 100 square feet and is 1 – 1.5 feet deep.
  • The temperature of the pool is 92 degrees Fahrenheit.

Activities in the Papa Albert Baby Pool include:

  • Family swim

Pool Rules

  1. Swim only when there is a lifeguard on duty. Children 9–12 years old need to be accompanied by an adult. Children 8 and under need to have an adult accompany them in the water. It is recommended that inexperienced swimmers use flotation devices, such as lifejackets, under the direct supervision of an adult.
  2. The lifeguard is to be obeyed at all times.
  3. Showers are required by State Law. Appropriate swim attire required in all pools (please, no blue jeans or cut-off shorts). Please apply sunscreen 15 minutes before entering the pool.
  4. Children who are not potty trained must wear swim diapers.
  5. NO DIVING. Enter feet-first only.
  6. Lap lanes are for lap swimming only. Swimmers may not cross the lap lanes to enter or exit pool. Be courteous and share lap lanes.
  7. Do not play, sit, or hang on ladders, guard stands, the ramp, and lane ropes. Use all swim equipment appropriately.
  8. Do not ride on shoulders, flick a towel, or participate in other potentially unsafe activities. No running. Any use of toys is at the discretion of the lifeguard.
  9. Lounge chairs and toys may not be in front of drain.
  10. Food or drinks are allowed in the grass area only. No food or drinks are allowed on the pool deck, except for bottled water. Please keep the facility clean by using the trash barrels. No glassware is allowed anywhere in or around the pool. No alcohol is permitted anywhere in the aquatic complex.
  11. Changing is permitted in the locker rooms/bathrooms only.
  12. No one is allowed in the pool who has a communicable disease or open sores (including scabs from chicken pox).
  13. Two lap lanes will be open during family recreation time and are for lap swimming only. Anyone not doing laps will be asked to move out of the lap lanes immediately. If there are two swimmers in a lane and a third swimmer comes, that swimmer will be responsible to inform the other swimmers to circle swim.
  14. Do not interrupt swim classes while they are in session.
  15. Refrain from spitting and blowing your nose in the pool.
  16. Read and obey all pool rules and posted signs in the pool area.
