3nd Annual Father's Day Fest

The 2017 JCC's Fathers Day Fitness Festival includes four exciting events: an adult swim meet, 400 Meter track Event, Golf Drive, Chip & Putt Event, a Soccer Skills Competition, and a kids Ninja Warrior Fitness Obstacle Course. Lots of cash and other great prizes will be awarded across the four events. The JCC Fathers Day Festival celebrates fathers, families, and fitness/wellness/healthy lifestyles. Dads, Moms, and Kids-participants and spectators-are all welcome! The event benefits the JCCs programs that serve needy families in Bernalillo County and The Storehouse food bank.

Karate For Kids

Our goal is to teach the fundamentals of Shotokan Karate. This includes: Kata, Kihon and Kumite. Our students will learn self-defense, self-awareness, coordination, flexibility, self discipline. They will develop self-confidence, self-esteem and self-control.

Trim While They Swim

An invigorating class geared specifically for kids 6-12 years of age. Our expert trainer Nick has developed a cardiovascular, strength, and fitness training program with an exciting and unique approach! Your kids will be engaged in a safe and action-packed environment! Let them experience how enjoyable fitness and working out can be. Classes are 45 minutes each session, 2 times per week, for 4 weeks. Strong Like Mom

Tuesdays & Thursdays | 3.30-4.30pm | June 6th-29th

This class offers busy moms the best of both worlds: connect with your kids AND get in a great workout, all at the same time! Strong Like Mom is an exercise class designed for mothers and their children (ages 7+). Be a great role-model to your kids, and demonstrate the importance and FUN of exercising and staying fit. This class is taught by JCC personal trainer, triathlete and mother-of-three Erin McDaniel, who knows a thing or two about staying active with a family! Triathlon Training

6-week training course in preparation for the Socorro Triathlon on August 5th

Want to finish your first triathlon or improve your PR? This 6-week program will get you into tip-top-tri shape just in time for the Socorro Triathlon on August 5th. Training sessions will include: 2 x swim sessions, 2 x bike/run sessions, 1 x treadmill session and 1 x trail run session. The JCC’s expert triathlon coach, Barry Field, will guide you to your best performance, designing you a customized 6-week training plan and supporting you from start to finish line! Adaptive Swim Lessons (5 Classes)

$50 per session

The JCC offers adaptive lessons modified for individuals with special needs. This class provides swimmers the opportunity to facilitate gross and fine motor skills in a gravity eliminated environment. This class will include skills such as safe entry and exit of the water, submersion, floating, and swimming technique.

*Must fill out Carrie Tingley Hospital Foundation scholarship form*

Evening Group Swim Lessons are Monday and Wednesday for 3 weeks. There is a total of 6 class and classes are 45 minutes long. The JCC Learn to Swim Program is designed to help your child learn skills from bubble blowing all the way to stroke refinement. This will include safety skills in, on, and around the water. As your child progresses through our program, they will learn specific skills that will help them advance through the five different class levels taught here at the JCC. We never let our student-to-instructor ratio exceed 6 to 1 for levels I-V.

ASD Swim Program

This swim program is designed around the communication and sensory needs of children on the austism spectrum. We will utilize visual schedules, social stories and teach in small groups. Classes will be scheduled during less busy pool times. Children will learn to be safe in and around the pool area. Emphasis will be on safety, having fun and making new friends. This is a great opportunity to meet other children with ASD.

Splash Ball July 8 - August 12

Splash Ball is on Saturdays from 9am - 9:45pm. Each session is 45 minutes long. Water Polo is a great fitness complement to many other sports as you develop strength, coordination and endurance! Splashball combines your swim skills with ball handling skills. You must have a beginner background in swimming (completed Level 2 Seahorse or above). We'll introduce you to the basic skills and concepts you need to play this exciting game: treading water (Eggbeater), ball handling (dribbling, passing, shooting) all mixed in with a ton of FUN! Don't miss the last class of the session where we put all of our skills together for a fun mini-game!

If you're looking for a great summer job or challenging career that's in demand, the Red Cross Lifeguarding program is the place to start. Through videos, group discussion and hands-on practice, you'll learn patron rescue and surveillance skills, first aid and CPR/AED. Courses are available with a focus on a variety of environments, including pools, waterfronts, waterparks and shallow water attractions. Must pass certain swimming requirements.

Aquaerobics

Aquaerobics is an enjoyable way to exercise while toning and trimming. Rhythmic water exercises are a wonderful way to keep in shape. This hour-long class takes place in the shallow end of the competition pool, which serves as an added resistance force.

High School Pre-Season Stroke Clinic September 6 - October 21

$125/ Swimmer

Mon-Thur 6:30pm-7:30pm
*No practice 10/3, 10/11 and 10/12 for Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur

This clinic is for both boys and girls to prepare for the upcoming High School swim season. Recommended for 8th grade swimmers and above. Each training session will have a goal of swimming 3,000+ yards, depending on level of experience and conditioning. The clinic will focus on:
-Stroke technique including freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly, and individual medley
-Conditioning for all event distances in the High School swim meet format (50 through 500 yards)
-Race strategies for individual and relay events
Whether you are a new swimmer trying to improve your stroke technique and prepare for high school try-outs, or an experienced swimmer trying to achieve State Championship qualifying times, this clinic will offer a structured format and challenging workouts to help reach your goals.
