Terry Lawson Dunn and Leona Rubin

March 26th through May 17

Meet the artists at reception
Thursday, April 2 from 5-7 pm

Wanderlust
original pastel paintings

Upon moving to Albuquerque in 2001, Terry Lawson Dunn quickly became infatuated with the wide open spaces and clear sunlight. By switching to soft pastels, she was better able to capture the rich colors and dramatic lighting that she found in the New Mexican landscape. Using archival sanded paper as a surface, Terry layers numerous colors of pastel one on top of the other, sometimes wetting sections of the piece midway to create an underpainting. She primarily selects realistic colors for her paintings, but will also choose a few unexpected accents.

Fanciful Food and Southwest Art
original oil paintings

Leona Rubin has a background in fashion design and illustration from the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City. Her paintings have been shown in galleries throughout the Southwest. The "Fanciful Food" series began after her son, Jeff, bought the Savory Fare restaurant. These paintings delight and amuse the restaurant patrons, who often purchase them for display in their kitchen and dining rooms.
