A Taste of Honey (ATOH), the annual day of Jewish learning for the New Mexico Jewish community, will celebrate its Eleventh year at the JCC. ATOH is the annual social, cultural and educational event that provides an opportunity to savor Jewish life at its best. It brings together all of the New Mexico community to explore Judaism and the Jewish experience. Brochures and more information are available at the J or by calling 348-4500.

Un-New Year's Eve: Accentuate the Positive - A Musical Cabaret

Saturday, December 27 at 7:30 pm

Un-New Year's Eve: Accentuate the Positive - a Musical Cabaret will be performed by UpStaged, Cabaret troupe, at the JCC, 5520 Wyoming Blvd. NE Admission prices are: $18/JCC or TLC member-general seating; $20/Nonmember/General seating; $30/Premium seating; and $25/at the door. Pre-paid reservations may be made online at jccabq.org, by calling 348-4518, or in person at the JCC Membership office. Those with reservations will be on a "will call" list at the door, which opens at 7 pm, 30 minutes prior to show time. The evening will include an intermission as well as snacks and beverages.

Polar Bear Plunge

Benefit for JCC "Cover the Pool Project"

Join us January 1st, 2015 at 11 a.m. for the 1st Annual Polar Bear Plunge benefit. Swimwear required, costumes welcome. If we raise $2500+ Dave Simon, JCC Executive Director, will swima lap in the 40 degree pool. Free Hot Drinks and Polar Bear Snacks! Challenge your friends to take the plunge! $25 Donation to Participate. $50 Donation receives Commemorative Towel. $1000 or more Donation receives permanent recognition.

All participants must sign waiver before entering pool.

Cost: $45 per day for JCC Members and $55 per day for non-JCC Members
Before & After Care: 7:00-9:00AM & 4:00-6:00PM ($5 per day, per camper)

Participants will play fun gym games, time in the Youth Lounge and playground, daily activities with the JCC Camp Chai Art, Science, and Sports Specialists. There will also be a kids DVD movie daily during lunch. Please provide a sack lunch, drinks and lots of snacks for your child (one snack will be provided by the JCC daily)! Art Afterschool: Clay! Draw! Paint! 1st-6th Grade

Tuesday, 4:15 - 5:30 pm 1/13 - 3/31 (12 weeks)
$144 (members) $170 (non-members)

This is a multi-media art class where creativity and imagination are the name of the game. Based on student interest, we will choose from: ceramics, sculpture, drawing, and painting. Maybe we will do them all! Come away with colorful 2 or 3-dimensional pieces that will make great gifts and can last a lifetime! Beginners through advanced are welcome, as projects will be taught to challenge each child's varied level.

Taught by Celeste Boals, professional art educator, has taught at the JCC for 4 years and has become a favorite.

Individual Basketball Training with "Coach Shack"

Individual Basketball Training affords players of all experience and ability levels to train with the JCC's own Basketball Training Coordinator, Coach Elijah "Shack" Shackleford, who brings over 15 years of experience coaching youth of all ages, across the state of New Mexico, to improve their skills across the basketball spectrum including instruction in the areas of shooting technique, ball handling, positional play, mental focus and motivation, and many more. Long Ride Every 3rd Sunday and Ride for everyone 1st Sunday at 7:45am

Everyone is welcome. Led by the JCC personal trainers and cycling experts. Rides will be 15-30 miles.

Do you seek personal instruction to learn or further develop pilates fundamentals? Whatever your goal is, working one on one with our expert instructors is sure to meet your needs. Receive individualized attention and focus on the poses or steps you are looking to develop. With private instruction, you can enhance your health, wellbeing and take your fitness to the next level.

Ronald McDonald House Charities of New Mexico provides comfort, care and a home away from home for families whose children are in medical treatment.

Donations: Cleaning Supplies - 13 gallon trash bags, Individual liquid hand soap, Paper towels, Powdered laundry soap, Toilet bowl cleaner, Dryer sheets, Paper towels, Pledge Wipes, Windex Wipes

Volunteer opportunities: 1) cooking and serving for guest chef dinners; 2) gardens, cleaning the playrooms, organizing kitchens, etc.

Title 1 Homeless Project - December 21 to March 19, 2015

The largest and most important safety net for homeless children and youth is the public school system, which provides both basic services as well as the education that is necessary to avoid poverty as adults.

Donations: New unopened packages of underwear and socks for Kindergarten through 12th grade students.

Volunteer opportunities: 1) Volunteer to tutor elementary or middle school students; 2) Volunteer on a weekly, monthly, or occasional basis to work in the Homeless Project storeroom, filling backpacks, making up snack packs, preparing grocery sacks, etc.
